Germany’s incoming coalition government says it will release its stranglehold on the pharmaceutical industry by cutting the rebate drug manufacturers have to pay health insurers, from 16% to 7%. But while the coalition said it also will stop conducting health technology assessments on older products, it refuses to lift the drug-price freeze that has been in place since 2009.
Negotiations are ongoing between the Christian Democratic Union and Socialist Parties on one side and the Social Democratic Party on the other, so there is no concrete agreement on the table yet
