Most Medicare beneficiaries will have their first chance to change Part D plans on January 1. But will seniors really shop around? Most will have the chance to save money if they switch plans, but surveys suggest few will even consider moving. That is good news for managed care plans hoping to make Medicare pay in the long run--and for the government, which wants to prevent a repeat of the near-catastrophic start to Part D.
