Sanofi Creates Consumer Unit With Eye To Expansion

Former Bayer executive Alan Main tapped to lead Consumer HealthCare global business unit, which Sanofi will consider expanding through acquisitions after integrating OTC brands added in a recent swap with Boehringer Ingelheim.

Sanofi has selected pharma industry veteran Alan Main to head the global consumer health unit it will launch once it completes its acquisition of Boehringer Ingelheim GMBH consumer brands and that it will consider expanding with “very detailed” acquisitions.

Main will join Sanofi Oct. 1, with responsibility for building on Sanofi’s position in consumer health, including overseeing the integration of Boehringer-Ingelheim's consumer brands from a deal announced in June....
