The World Health Organization has published the latest edition of its Essential Medicines List, adding 30 medicines for adults and 25 for children, as well as new uses for already listed products, bringing to 433 the number of drugs that the WHO says address important public health needs at global level.
A number of newer innovative products have been placed on the list, including dasatinib and nilotinib for leukemia, sofosbuvir/velpatasvir for hepatitis C, dolutegravir for HIV
