Medicare Lowers Payments For 340B Drugs: Promising Sign For Further Reform?

PhRMA is stepping up its advocacy for 340B reform, noting recent reduction in Medicare payments for 340B is encouraging in that it indicates Administration may be open to further change.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has finalized its proposal to significantly lower Medicare Part B payments to hospital outpatient departments for drugs purchased at 340B rates, which could be a sign the Administration will pursue other reforms in the drug discount program.

The change doesn't impact requirements that manufacturers provide 340B discounts
