The EU is once again facing criticism for its pursuit of investor-state dispute settlement-like mechanisms.

EU is under fire for pursuing ISDS mechanisms

NGOs have called on EU and Mercosur trade deal negotiators to explicitly reject any investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS)-like mechanisms that could impact public health in any final trade deal between the two trade blocs. Meanwhile, the European Commission wants to clean up the reputation of such mechanisms by setting up a Multilateral Investment Court.
