On March 23, the European Council kicked off a new phase of the Brexit talks by endorsing a transition period that will run from the end of March 2019 to the end of 2020, during which current rules and regulations, including those governing the life sciences sector, would remain as they are, but with the UK excluded from EU decision-making bodies. The council also adopted guidelines on the forthcoming negotiations on the future trading relationship between the UK and the EU.
