Appointment of CVS Health executive Daniel Best could help Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services address some pharmacy benefit manager concerns with point-of-sale rebates in Part D.

HHS Secretary Alex Azar's selection to head up the department's efforts on drug pricing reform, Daniel Best, has worked in Medicare Part D on the payer side since the program launched in 2006, culminating with his current job as corporate VP of industry relations for CVS Health Corp.'s Medicare Part D business.

He is "an expert on both the pharmaceutical landscape and the largest single payer for prescription drugs, the Medicare Part D program," according to the March 29 HHS announcement
