CMS' Verma Touts Value-Based Payments After Cancellation Of Pilot For Novartis' Kymriah

'It's not for every medication,' CMS administrator says, but agency continues to explore how to apply value-based pricing.

US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma is emphasizing CMS' broad support for value-based payments despite the agency not moving forward with such a program for Novartis AG's gene therapy Kymriah (tisagenlecleucel).

"Our focus is thinking about value-based payments for some of these new therapies," Verma told reporters at a July 12 briefing hosted by the Alliance for Health Policy
