EU ‘Repurposing’ Project Plans Pilot Phase

A dedicated working group is taking forward a drug repurposing proposal originally devised by European industry bodies, with a view to determining the procedures to be used and running a pilot project with individual drug candidates.

An EU project aimed at drawing up a pathway for the “repurposing” of established medicines for new uses is to be further developed by running pilot studies with selected candidate substances to test the pathway concept in a real-world setting.
