Canadian Importation Option May Be Hindered By Product, Savings Restrictions

The US Health and Human Services Department's pathway for importing drugs from Canada is limited legally, which may raise questions about whether there would be enough demand for the eligible drugs to make the pathway a viable business option.

Biologics, controlled substances, intravenously injected and infused drugs, those inhaled during surgery, some parenteral products and drugs subject to a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy cannot be imported from Canada using the pathway established by Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act section 804, which is part of the administration's
