The Biden’s Administration’s approach to lowering prescription drug prices through new Medicare payment models will be managed by the Commonwealth Fund’s Elizabeth Fowler as the new director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. Fowler, who started at CMMI on 1 March, brings a mix of Capitol Hill, White House and pharma industry experience to the role.

Previously executive VP for programs at the Commonwealth Fund, Fowler has a unique affinity with CMMI from her work during 2008-2010 as chief health counsel to the Senate Finance Committee, a key authoring body
