Two former US Food and Drug Administration leaders not only indicated that Acting Commissioner Janet Woodcock should become the next permanent agency leader, but argued that she is able make substantive moves at the FDA even while in the temporary role.

Robert Califf, who served as commissioner from February 2016 to January 2017, said 12 March during a webinar sponsored by Stat that while his role is not to promote specific candidates, Woodcock would make a great commissioner
