The US Food and Drug Administration’s fast track designation played a big role in the week’s news, with two rolling submissions initiated and one completed.

The rolling starts came from the infectious disease arena. Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE kicked off a regular biologics license application filing for their COVID-19 vaccine, making it the first to be submitted outside the emergency use authorization process
