The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee approved legislation geared toward improving the nation’s public health response to future pandemics on 15 March but voted against including a proposed amendment that would have set up an expedited drug and vaccine review process at FDA based on foreign data.
The PREVENT Pandemic Act includes a range of provisions that would enhance the development and review of medical products, combat shortages and accelerate research and countermeasure discovery. It would strengthen the supply chain for medical products with manufacturing readiness policies
