Back To The Well: Rebate Reform Rule Delay Would Fund Senate Gun Control Bill Provisions

The bipartisan gun control legislation pending in the US Senate would postpone implementation of the Trump-era rebate reform rule by one year, until 1 January, 2027, and use the projected “savings” generated by the delay to underwrite new mental health support programs.

The delay is expected to generate about $20bn in savings to the federal government. The bill appears to have a good chance of passing the Senate based on a vote to advance the measure on 21 June
