The outcome of the midterm elections in the US Senate ended up as a remarkable vote for the status quo, with no incumbents defeated at the polls so far.

With the Nevada Senate race now called in favor of incumbent Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto, Democrats are assured to retain control in upper chamber, holding at least 50 seats, with a possible 51st to come
