FTC Expands PBM Probe To Group Purchasing Organizations

Commission issues compulsory orders for information to two organizations that negotiate drug rebates on behalf of CVS Caremark, Express Scripts and other PBMs. It issued similar orders to the six largest PBMs last year.

The US Federal Trade Commission is digging deeper into the business practices of pharmacy benefit managers, demanding information from two group purchasing organizations that negotiate rebates with drug manufacturers on behalf of PBMs.

The commission announced on 17 May that it issued compulsory orders to Zinc Health Services LLC and Ascent Health Services LLC requiring them to provide information and records on their business practices
