NIH Nominee Says Americans Deserve ‘Return On Investment’ Via Affordable Meds, But Offers No Implementation Plan

US National Institutes of Health director nominee Monica Bertagnolli stressed her commitment to ensuring affordability and accessibility of medical products developed with US government funding but was unwilling to endorse any specific policies to accomplish those goals at her 18 October Senate Health Committee confirmation hearing to lead the vast $45bn/year medical research organization.
