Canada Attacks Florida’s ‘Bad’ Bulk Importation Plan

Regulatory tools designed to prevent medicines intended for Canada being diverted elsewhere will be “crucial” for preventing shortages in the country, say Canadian authorities and industry representatives.

The Canadian government and the R&D-based pharmaceutical industry have said that Florida’s plan to bulk import medicines from Canada will fail to ease shortages in the US state and could cause or worsen supply problems north of the border.

The industry trade group, Innovative Medicines Canada, says that the enforcement of 2020 legislation and reforms to the Food and Drugs Act will be “crucial”
