L'Oreal/EPA Partnership Could Expand Non-Animal Test Strategies

L’Oreal and the U.S. EPA are collaborating to test the usefulness of the agency’s chemical-screening platform in predicting the toxicity of cosmetic substances – particularly vis-a-vis sensitive endpoints for which alternative tests currently do not exist – in advance of an EU ban on cosmetic products tested on animals.

With Europe’s full ban on cosmetic products and ingredients tested on animals less than a year away, L’Oreal has teamed up with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to determine the viability of what could be a powerful alternative testing tool.
