EU Health Commissioner Borg Aims To Uphold 2013 Animal-Testing Ban

Animal testing on cosmetic ingredients marketed in the EU will be banned absolutely in March 2013 as scheduled despite the unavailability of alternative test methods if new European Health Commissioner Tonio Borg has his way. At a Nov. 13 Parliament hearing, Borg said final animal-welfare measures under the Cosmetics Directive must be implemented; trade group Cosmetics Europe expresses concerns.
