CSC Report: Retailers Should Take Responsibility For Cosmetics Safety

If the federal government won’t keep potentially toxic cosmetics off the market, retailers should, NGO the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics says, scoring eight retailers on their ingredient screening programs and personal-care safety policies.

A new report from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics suggests that in the absence of tighter federal oversight, cosmetics retailers are “gatekeepers of safety” and should be working to improve their safety policies and protect consumers from potentially hazardous ingredients in personal-care products.
