Skin-Absorption Data Needed On Aluminum In Cosmetics – SCCS

Further skin-absorption studies are needed to measure internal exposure to aluminum before a safe concentration limit can be determined for cosmetic products containing the metal, the European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety says in an opinion published April 11. However, available evidence on products formulated with aluminum does not link exposure to an increased risk of breast cancer or neurodegenerative diseases, the SCCS says.
