AESGP Regulatory Conference: No Progress On Botanicals, MDR Tensions Mount

A lack of progress on the botanical health claims issue and rising tensions with the impending Medical Devices Regulation were among the topics discussed at the AESGP's Regulatory Conference in Brussels yesterday.

Association for the European Self-Care Industry director general Jūratė Švarcaitė opened the Autumn 2019 Regulatory Conference noting the industry group's position at the “crossroads” of three consumer healthcare legal frameworks: OTC medicines, food supplements and medical devices, a position reflected in structure of the conference’s first three sessions.

Echoing sentiments expressed by the speakers at the conference's opening event, Švarcaitė said that the incoming European Commission offered hope for a renewed focus on healthcare, indicating a bright future...
