New EU REACH Nanomaterial Requirements Take Effect In 2020; Existing Dossiers Need Updates

Companies that manufacture or import nanoform substances subject to European REACH must meet new information requirements by 1 January 2020 under a regulation adopted by the Commission in late 2018. Final guidance from the European Chemicals Agency, currently available in draft form, is expected by year-end.

The 1 January 2020 effective date is fast approaching for a European chemicals regulation adopted in late 2018 that imposes new information requirements on registrants of nanoform substances or mixtures.

The European Chemicals Agency issued a reminder on 8 October, urging industry to “get ready.”
