J&J switches its Benacort hayfever nasal spray from prescription-only to general sales list status in the UK, making it the third mass market steriod-based spray available outside pharmacy.

UK hayfever sufferers now have three steroid-based nasal spray brands to turn to outside pharmacy, thanks to a successful prescription-only to general sales list (P-to-GSL) switch from Johnson & Johnson.

By-passing the country’s intermediary pharmacy-only (P) classification – as there is already an identical product classified as P, according to the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) – J&J’s Benacort Hayfever
