Hemp industry stakeholders are optimistic California’s legislature is about to pass a bill legalizing cannabinoids in food, dietary supplements and cosmetics, joining dozens of states establishing laws in the absence of a federal regulation.

It also would establish regulatory structure for using cannabinoids found naturally in hemp and allowing “semi-synthetic” ingredients while prohibiting artificial or fully synthetic cannabinoids.
