House Appropriations Committee chairwoman Rosa DeLauro’s latest source for criticizing the Food and Drug Administration’s food safety oversight arrived in a whistleblower’s report highly and explicitly critical of Abbott Nutrition’s quality control practices at an infant formula facility.

The plant in Sturgis, MI, was shut down earlier in 2021 after Abbott Nutrition recalled powder products made there which were potentially linked to bacterial contamination
