Two of South America’s most prominent regulatory agencies, Argentina’s Anmat and Brazil’s Anvisa, have signed on to collaborating on creating a pharmaceutical products regulator for Latin America and the Caribbean, additions which could help drive forward the project initiated by three other regulatory agencies earlier in 2023.
Cofepris in Mexico, Invima in Colombia and Cecmed in Cuba signed the Acapulco Declaration in April to formalize talks on creating a regional medicines regulator for countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras and Jamaica also expressed interest in the project
