Poland Empowers Pharmacists To Prescribe Morning After Pill

Around 800 pharmacies across Poland have signed up to offer women and girls access to the emergency contraceptive pill without the need to visit their doctor.

Pharmacies across Poland are enabling women and girls to obtain the morning-after pill without the need to visit a doctor for the first time since 2017.

After a move to restore OTC status to emergency contraceptive EllaOne (ulipristal acetate) was blocked by Poland’s president Andrzej Duda earlier this year, the country’s ministry of health has introduced a pilot program which allows pharmacists to issue a prescription for the pill
