Novartis lines up Signifor as Sandostatin LAR replacement in acromegaly

Novartis's new somatostatin analogue pasireotide is more effective at controlling acromegaly than its older product Sandostatin LAR (octreotide im injection), the current standard of care, a new head-to-head Phase III study shows. The data are likely to prove vital in persuading payers that the new product, just recently approved in the EU as Signifor for Cushing's disease, will be value for money in this additional indication.
