Harper, Hooper Exit As Amgen Revenues Rise

Amgen revealed better-than-expected second quarter earnings July 26 and said its R&D and commercial heads Sean Harper and Anthony Hooper are retiring. Harper, who's getting involved with start-ups, is being replaced from within by David Reese; Bristol's Murdo Gordon will take over for Hooper.

Amgen Inc. delivered strong second quarter earnings and increased its 2018 financial guidance, but also said on July 26 that two of its top executives – EVP Research and Development Sean Harper and EVP Global Commercial Operations Anthony Hooper – will retire later this year.

Harper, who said during the company's earnings call that he's going to get involved in new biotechnology company formation, was replaced – effective July 26 – by Amgen Senior Vice President-Translational Sciences and Oncology David Reese. Meanwhile, departing Bristol-Myers Squibb Co
