China Biotechs Race To Get First Global IO Green Light Within Months

Multiple US Fast-Track Reviews Underway

Within months, one of the three latest immuno-oncology drugs from Chinese firms Innovent, Junshi and Akeso is likely to be approved, providing new competition to global giants such as BMS and Merck & Co. as they race each other over to the finish line.

First came Shanghai Junshi Biosciences Co., Ltd. then Innovent Biologics, Inc. and now Akeso Inc., all three being Chinese pharma firms elbowing each other to become the developer of the first immuno-oncology drug originated in China to go global.

Suzhou-based Innovent on 18 May said its filing for the US approval of sintilimab with pemetrexed and platinum chemotherapy for non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) had been accepted
