The Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Broad Institute introduced a new Center for Genomic Mechanisms of Disease research unit on 15 September, to be housed at the Harvard University/Massachusetts Institute of Technology-sponsored joint research center and funded with a five-year, $47.5m grant from the foundation. The center’s goal will be to generate datasets that help researchers to understand how variances in human genes can increase risk for various diseases.
