Organon Looks To Tap Tocilizumab Potential Following Biogen Acquisition

Bio-Thera’s Tofidence US Commercial Rights Snapped Up; Biosimilar Launched May 2024

Organon has swelled its immunology biosimilar portfolio after acquiring the US commercial rights to Bio-Thera’s tocilizumab biosimilar from Biogen, which last year decided to retain its interests in biosimilars following a lengthy strategic review.

Organon believes there is “considerable growth potential” for the Tofidence (tocilizumab-bavi) biosimilar to Genentech’s Actemra, after acquiring rights in the US for the product from Biogen, in a deal that “complements our existing business, enabling us to expand our immunology portfolio.”
