The re-election of Donald Trump as US President for the next four years has put Germany’s medtech and other high-tech exporters under increasing economic pressure, given the premier’s talk of stepping up protectionist measures and raising tariffs on imported goods.

At home in Germany, politics has been thrown into disarray following the collapse of the coalition SPD-Green-Liberal FDP government.
