Siemens has acquired Diagnostic Products (immunodiagnostics) for $1.86bn. DP shareholders will get $58.50 in cash for each of their shares. (Apr.)
DP was established in 1971 to manufacture and distribute products including its Immulite immunoassay systems to analyze and diagnose cancer, cardiovascular conditions, allergies, adrenal or pituitary dysfunction, anemia, bone metabolism, diabetes, and reproductive and thyroid disorders. The acquired company, which reported 2005 sales of $481mm with earnings of $96mm, offers its products to hospitals, clinics, and laboratories in over 100 countries
