AI Accelerates In Drug Discovery

Artificial Intelligence has been hyped as a game changer in drug discovery for the last five years. How far has it come, and how far can it go? In Vivo talks to some of the key players that are creating and shaping the future of the industry.

AI drug discovery

The application of artificial intelligence in drug discovery could be the reset button the biopharmaceutical industry desperately needs. Latest figures from Deloitte show that to take a molecule from discovery to launch is 10-12 years, with the average cost of the R&D process at $2.2bn per drug, almost double the $1.2bn calculated in 2010. Around one third of this is accounted for in the discovery phase.
