The contraceptive market is one famously defined by its lack of innovation. Despite pioneering attempts by researchers to bring new contraceptive options to market – particularly efforts to develop a contraceptive option for men, outside of condom use and sterilization – no novel invention has gained mainstream success since the launches of the contraceptive patch and ring in the early 2000s.
