Today, about 70% of pharmaceutical products are temperature-sensitive – including tissues, mRNA vaccines, blood and blood components, and cell and gene therapies (CGTs). These products rely on the cold chain, and lapses in that chain, such as poor logistics planning, untrained staff, improper handling, or unsuitable packaging, can lead to wastage, lost revenue, noncompliance, and put patients at risk.
