Following its declaration on 14 August that the spread of mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) within and beyond the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), the World Health Organization has issued further warnings targeted at national health authorities around the world.
