Medtronic Wins In England’s NICE Decision On Implantable Monitors For Stroke Patients; Biotronik And Abbott Lose

UK health technology assessment body NICE says that Medtronic’s Reveal LINQ, which transmits data remotely to doctors, is likely to be a cost-effective use of National Health Service resources.

England’s health technology assessment body, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), has recommended that Medtronic’s implantable cardiac remote monitoring device, Reveal LINQ, be used routinely on the National Health Service to detect atrial fibrillation in patients who have had a cryptogenic stroke.

Rival devices from Biotronik and Abbott got the thumbs down due to a lack of necessary evidence.
