EU Council Takes Only Small Steps Towards Consensus On HTA Regulations

EU member state have several concerns about the European Commission’s plans for improving cooperation on health technology assessments, making it difficult for the Council of the EU to reach a common position on the proposals.

Major concerns among some EU member states are still preventing EU ministers from agreeing a position on the European Commission’s proposals on health technology assessments (HTAs) that would affect medicines and some medical devices. However, the Romanian presidency of the Council of the EU has managed some steps towards consensus on smaller, more technical issues.
