California attorney general Xavier Becerra, who has lead the blue-state legal defense of Obamacare, is among the nominees for Biden's health care team announced on 7 December, including Rochelle Walensky for CDC director. Missing from the list, though, is a nominee for FDA commissioner or CMS administrator.

Incoming US President Joe Biden’s nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services will be California attorney general Xavier Becerra, a long-time House member who in recent years gained national prominence in Blue-state efforts to counter lawsuits aimed at dismantling the Affordable Care Act.
