UK’s NICE Seeks Feedback On Proposed Improvements To Its Processes

Proposals extend the health technology appraisal body's focus beyond final guidance to support for early development and real world performance.

NICE, the health technology appraisal institute for England and Wales, has published proposals on how to improve the processes it uses when developing guidance on health technologies. The pharmaceutical industry has welcomed the opportunity to ensure more consistency and predictability when working with NICE.

The consultation comes as part of a wide-reaching and much anticipated review that aims to identify key areas for change to NICE’s methods and processes used in evaluating health technologies. It follows the institute’s consultation on its methods in November
