EU HTA Regulation: Tight Deadlines & The Future Of Collaboration

The next stage of collaboration on health technology assessments in the EU after the new HTA Regulation is implemented is unlikely to venture into health economics, instead it will likely focus on working with international bodies outside the union.

Despite industry anxieties, tight timelines for finalizing the methodologies underpinning the Health Technology Assessment Regulation will not mean a rushed or unfinished system for the new EU-level joint clinical assessment (JCA) system, said Niklas Hedberg, co-chair of the new HTA Coordination Group established by the regulation.
