ECHA Committee Takes Lighter View On Formaldehyde Than U.S. Agencies

ECHA’s Committee for Risk Assessment adopts an opinion to classify formaldehyde as “presumed to have carcinogenic potential,” a decidedly less rigid stance than U.S. regulators, which have deemed the ingredient a “known human carcinogen.”

The European Chemicals Agency's Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) has taken a slightly less rigid stance on formaldehyde safety than those of the National Toxicology Program and Environmental Protection Agency in the U.S.
