Poland's Government Pushing To Restore OTC Access To Morning After Pill

As Poland is ranked the worst country in Europe for contraception access by a group of EU parliamentarians, the country's government has voted through a bill which would make the morning after pill available without a prescription for the first time in more than six years.

Non-prescription access to the morning after pill could soon be restored in Poland should a bill put forward by the country’s new coalition government be passed into law.

Emergency contraception has been available only on prescription in Poland since 2017 when the previous administration – led by the Law and Justice (PiS) party – removed OTC availability of Perrigo’s EllaOne (ulipristal acetate), citing concerns that the drug was being abused
