Servier-Partnered Drug Shows No Activity in Phase II

Still reeling from the FDA rejection of its JAK inhibitor filgotinib for rheumatoid arthritis, the Belgium-headquartered biotech's ADAMTS-5 inhibitor developed with France's Servier is sunk after failing to significantly reduce cartilage loss compared with placebo in an OA trial.

Galapagos NV has suffered another pipeline setback with its osteoarthritis (OA) asset GLPG1972, partnered with Servier, failing to produce any signal of activity in a mid-stage trial.

The Belgian biotech has issued topline results from the Phase II ROCELLA trial which evaluated three once-daily oral doses of GLPG1972 for a year in 932 patients with knee OA
